Things that have been on my mind

I don’t want a sixth season of Jeresy Shore!
I want a season of Snooki and Pregnant!

One Direction should be known as One Depression, because their voices are great, but their album is weak. I expected them to be awesome since so many people lost their minds while they were staying in NYC, but now I’m sad about how bad their cd is.

Every time I register for AC&C orientation I either forget to go to the meeting, or it conflicts with other plans. It makes me wonder if I’m supposed to attend, or maybe I should be trying harder to attend.

I’m going to make more of an effort to make money in April!

I Attended NJ’s Party With Degrassi Event @ The Wellmont Theatre

At first Teen Nick said it was going to be a NYC event, but changed it to NJ because of “scheduling logistics”. I applied for press late because I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to make it and wasn’t given a press pass.

When I finally got to The Wellmont Theatre around 10am the line to attend the screening was already around the corner. Some people had slept over from 11pm and others had arrived at 5am. When the cast arrived around 1pm they drove by recording the fans. Melinda Shankar(Alli) rolled down her window and waved to everyone. Around 2pm event staff members came outside and started throwing “Degrassi Drama” shirts at everyone. What was once an organized line turned into a frantic mob as people from two blocks back heard the commotion and came running to see what was going on. Kids were banging into parked cars, screaming, and shoving. It was like Jurassic Park. One shirt thrower saw me on the outer curve of the crowd and launched a shirt my way. I caught it effortlessly and quickly hid it away from the grabbing hands that were closing in. After the staff had run out shirts some people went back to their original spots in line, but most people didn’t. Tickets were checked and scanned, wristbands were given out, and everyone was told that at 3pm we would be let in. When 3pm came around the crowd went from singing the Degrassi theme song to chanting “3-P-M, 3-P-M, 3-P-M”. Once 3pm had passed the “3-0-1, 3-0-1” chant began until finally they started letting people in. Inside you were greeted by a woman holding a box of assorted candies at the top of stairs that led down to the bar/carnival area and ended at the theatre floor where chairs had been arranged in rows for the screening. Everyone was given a “Party with Degrassi” shirt and if you spun a wheel you could get a “Degrassi Drama” shirt, a Degrassi poster, or a Big Time Rush shirt. The cast came out before the screening to speak and then returned again after the screening to answer questions. After the q&a everyone went outside to watch the cast leave and to get autographs. Jordan Todosey(Adam) spent the most time with fans and at one point it looked like she was almost going to be left behind.

I ended the evening with 2 “Party with Degrassi” shirts, 2 “Degrassi Drama” shirts, and 1 Big Time Rush shirt

My favorite part was one someone asked if the cast would ever want to actually attend a school with as much drama as Degrassi and Aislinn Paul(Clare) shouted out “¡¡I WOULD NEEVER DATE ELI!!” Everyone including her was shocked and surprised by her outburst.

When I went to NJ it took less than 30min on the bus, but getting back to NYC took almost over an hour because of traffic and passenger pick ups. I waited in the city to take pix with the cast and thanks to Melinda’s birthday I was able to get pix with everyone because they were going out to celebrate.

For the most part the cast is super sweet.

The Revolution shouldn’t be televised

The Revolution airs for the first time today. In this episode you’ll learn what Ty Pennington’s favorite color is and what he considers his power color. Tim Gunn will tell you how to dress to show off your best body parts, but not in detail. Harley will teach you how to exercise using a chair, and I’m not sure what lesson the doctors taught other than black people are at a higher risk for diabetes. You’ll also see two sisters begin their “revolution” journey.

Two weeks ago I had the misfortune of being in the first full show taping by answering a post on craigslist to be a paid audience member. I thought it was going to be a simple painless taping until I realized the audience warm-up guy’s form of comedy was making fun of the audience. I was extraordinarily thrilled when he went out of his way to harass me three times for not being as enthusiastic about standing around and clapping along to music as he felt I should be. I’ve been a paid audience member several times before and like every professional I know when it’s time to begin work and when it’s time to stop. My job begins when the red light on the camera comes on and it ends when the red light on the camera goes off. When we finally started the taping we made it fifteen minutes into the show before we had to stop and wait around for cameras to be repositioned etc. The pauses were frequent and lasted longer each time. At one point someone fell backstage and we had to wait for EMTs to arrive. Everyone was told the taping wouldn’t last more than two hours, but we ended up being trapped there for around four hours. The only thing worse than being in the audience of The Revolution is being in the audience of The Revolution and sitting next to a cranky old lady who no longer wishes to be in the audience of The Revolution and won’t stop complaining to you about it.

The concept of The Revolution is a great idea, but filling a whole hour with mundane segments like how to remove rust from a pan using a potato and baking soda is really pointless when most people use teflon pans. Personally I’d be interested in seeing a segment on how to avoid buying a whole cake just because it’s more cost-effective than buying just a slice. The only joy I’ll ever get from watching is being able to see Tim Gunn daily. I’ve become a little obsessed with him because I like his mannerisms. He’s like a living doll. He is also the nicest and most personable of the four hosts.

The Revolution is pretty much Extreme Home Makeover for the human being. Even though I never watched One Life To Live they shouldn’t have replaced it with this.
